RE: Fender on rear wheel Question
Exactly what top end are you talking about? Changing your tire size isnt going to improve anything, but, it is going to effect the handling of the bike. The larger tire might give you a greater lean but at a trade off of agility. Just think about it and ask around to others with the same bike before making the switch, and see what they prefer.

RE: Fender on rear wheel Question
I kept reading F4ALLTHEWAY, talk about "top end" & was saying to my self: "WHAT?!" heheh
I think he is saying that the profile will be raised & that will allow for a higher top end like a higher gear, because the circumference of the tire will be increased. A 170 with the same aspect ratio will be higher than a 160 of the same aspect ratio.
Personally, I feel that you should just stay with what that rim was designed to have, & keep it a stock size...but we all have different opinions.
As far as removing the rear fender, my 1994 (painted as a 93), never came with a rear fender to begin with, just as all the early 900RR's don't have one.

RE: Fender on rear wheel Question
HAVENT BEEN ON IN A WHILE BUT WHAT TOP IM TALKING ABOUT IS. THE BIGGER TIRE IS KINDA LIKE TWEAKING THE GEARS, IF U STICK WITH A SMALL TIRE VS A BIG TIRE, THE SMALLER TIRE WILL COMPLETE A WHOLE REVOLTION FASTER THAN A BIGER TIRE, GIVING IT BETTER ACCELERATION, VS A BIG TIRE TAKING LONGER IN THE SAME AMOUT OF RPM GETTING MORE TOP END . SORRY I CANT REALLY WORD IT RIGHT BUT I KNOW I HAD A OLD FZR AND MAXED IT OUT ON MY STOCK TIRE AND I WANTED TO GET A BIGGER TIRE LIKE THE NEWER BIKES AND I COULD GO FASTER TOP END.. CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG, AND IF U UNDERSTAND WHAT IM TRYING TO GET AT PUT IT IN BETTER WORDS. BUT I THINK TONY SAID IT WELL TOO.
BUT ANYWAYS STICK WITH THE STOCK TIRE
