heres a simple check.
take 2 wires put them in the fan plug.
attach the other ends to a 9v battery. if it turns then ur not getting power through harness.
if it doesnt, malfunctioning fan

little somethin i forgot to mention. unplug the temp sensor that is on the radiater ground off that plug, then connect wires. if it goes on then your sensor could be bad. still better to just bypass it

By-pass the temp sensor to check whether the fan runs or not. Before you do that, get a VOM meter and (with the ignition ON) check for hot TO the sensor. If that checks out, the harness is good. if the fan fails to turn, the fans is bad. if the fan runs and you are sure that the bike is up to temp (i.e. about 10 min idle or stop and go traffic), then it's probably the sensor.

Me, personally, if it's broke then I fix it right. Yeah, you could (to get you home) by-pass the sensor. But, long term, it's not the solution. Which is what STJ actually meant, I think. So, basically, I'm just re-wording his good advice. ;-)
