Fake or real?
Has anyone ever encountered "knock off", Bootleg", or fake gear. I ordered a JR textile jacket off ebay and it doesn't come with tagsand says it's in excellent condition. All the seller seems to sell is JR and seems to be all brand new but doesn't say that. Te seller's history is all positive. What I was wondering if the bootlegers in asia are making fake moto gear. Hell they bootleg everything else!
Do they show a pic of the inside tag? I would think it would be hard to bootleg a jacket with a real JR tag attached to the inside. It would also be illegal, and I hope the authorities would be competent enough to shut down an operation with that much sophistication.
I've never encountered any, but never buy gear off ebay. I used to buy stuff there quite a bit, but the last couple years I've avoided it as much as possible. Counterfeit gear does exist though, so use caution.
Sometimes the items are authentic, but factory seconds so the tag is cut off. In this case with the JR logo everywhere it doesn't make sense for this to be the case, but in other cases it does.
My guess is that Tahoe is right (as always). After all, Joe Rocket makes a $200 jacket for about $14 because of economies of scale, a knock off manufacturer would probably not be able to compete.
