Default F4i o2 sensor bad?

Hello,

I can't tell if my o2 sensor is working or not.

When I bought the bike, the o2 sensor was just zip tied to the side because the previous owner installed an aftermarket exhaust without the hole in the midpipe for the o2 sensor.

I removed the o2 eliminator plug and installed a stock exhaust. I plugged the o2 sensor in the midpipe, but I'm still getting around 120 miles. per tank (~35 mpg).

The FI light does not appear when the o2 sensor is just zip tied to the side.

How do I check if the o2 sensor is bad or not?

I don't have my manual in front of me.. but I think the voltage ranges from .2 to .8 or so.. 14.7 is about .45 or so..(I think). It also takes a minute to warm up.. Keep in mind that though that unless you have done the clan air mod.. your engine tries to cycle unburnt gas/air back through.. it will appear very very lean.. when actually the engine isn't burning nearly as lean. If you're true lean though.. you'll get great mpg.. and run hot.

What is the clean air mod?

My objective is to use the o2 sensor with the stock exhaust. But I am unsure if the is sensor is even working. When the o2 sensor was zip tied to the side and the o2 eliminator plug was removed, the FI light would not turn on.

measure it connected in the free air then.. should read I think 22.4 or something like that..

you'd have to convert that to volts.. don't even worry about the kleen air mod.. that's a mod to stop air/gas cycling through your engine. lots of names for it.. google it you want to understand.. to many thousands of explanation to go repeating..
