Default f4i blew 3 fuel pumps, anyone have any ideas what it can be?

Please help...I have gone through 2 fuel pumps in less than 30 miles. What could cause my bike to go through 2 in 24 hours? I install them and they work fine, bike primes and starts right up. Then I come back the next day to start the bike and the fuel pump will not prime? Put in another, started right up, 2 days later it will not prime either. Originally the bike had the original fuel pump in it. The bike sat for a yr and when I went to start it, it would not prime. The gas is fresh and clean since we drained the tank both times. No warnings at all. I shut the bike down a few times as well...Fuses never blew and relay still seems to work... I hear it when I put the key in as with the 2 times prior to this.

Are you sure the pump isn't working? I'm thinking it's possibly the engine cut off switch rather than the pump. The F4i is known for this switch failing. I'd disassemble the switch, check the contacts, clean it, and try again. It could be intermittent, so if the switch primes the fuel pump at one point, it may cut off when you're riding, or not prime another time.

I am sure the pumps were not working, if it was the engine cutoff switch the new pumps wouldn't work either after I installed them. Plus I ran jumpers to the pumps after they were removed and they did not prime, they primed with the jumpers before installation

When you say the fuel pump is shot, at that point did you try testing the fuel pump connector for power? This way before touching anything else you will know if it is getting power or not. Try looking back in the f4i section at my post and it might help solve your situation. It drove me crazy for about 2 weeks, bottom line is the ecu has to send a ground signal to the furl cut relay first so it will operate. Then power is delivered. You could have an intermittent problem in the ecu and it is on its way out. I am running my bike with a jumper wire in the fuel cut relay because that part of the ecu is fryed, that is the only way my bike will run, and yes it runs fine only thing is the pump will keep running so i just shut it off when i stop. I would positively test the connector when this happens and if you have no power refer to my thread it might help. Good luck
