Alas I have found no roaches in my radiator but did find a dried up birds wing between the horn bracket and radiator.
Had a good day today potting away on the bike,

Few pics,
The oil cooler, seals looked all good Demon, I too have kids and another in the oven (just found that out the other week) so things tend to take awhile to get done on the bike, ie if I don't need to spend on it then I'll make do for now....for now. I'm getting the water pump seals done so hopefully that'll fix it. If not the the oil coolers next.

The gunk in the cooler, all cleaned out now and back on the bike

All the rear shock linkage and lower frame now cleaned up, could do with a paint but I think the odd chips off the paint make it look battle hard... Old salt you could say

Hit the headers with sum 1400degree exhaust paint, better the the old rusty brown they once were. New oil filter and plugs installed while all was easy to access

That's about it so far, just waiting on that pump now. Once installed I'll hit the top end and make her gleam. Have been to the shop today and got all the supplies for the at least 3 flushes and plenty of anti freeze and mineral water.

All that and not a single bloody roach in sight

Haha, sorry about the jack, Kiwi. Hopefully, once you get the pump sorted, everything will be good-to-go. The headers look great, btw.

Had a phone call from the bike shop today. They can't find any one doing seal kits in NZ or pumps either. However they say they can get one for around $340.00 and it will take 3 weeks... f!#k that.
I've spent the last half hour scanning the net and I can see 1 assembly and 1 casing on ebay. Both from the same guy, he's just broken it down and selling it in pieces.
Then found a supplier in NZ who could do $220.00 plus freight and again 3 weeks. Have just found a supplier in NZ who has both the whole unit and gaskets and seals etc.
question,
Is it better to buy the whole she-bang or if not what bits.
Can some one with more know than me have a look at this site for me and see if the parts are indeed what I need. Seems a whole lot cheap to rebuild.

Happy I can get a pump at least because at lunchtime today I thought I was up $hit creek without a paddle.

As always any advice is accepted and greatly appreciated

Take some pics of it disassembled and throw them up. If the blades on pump are turning fine, clean it up with some paint thinner, order #5 and #15 and go with it!\

EDIT:
There's a chain that runs off the primary shaft that spins the oil pump. That rod on the end of the water pump hooks into the oil pump and that's how the water pump spins. That is just a shaft that churns the blades. So, unless that shaft is severely out of round, I don't see how oil is getting into the pump itself. Usually, oil leaks from the case because of a bad #15, and water leaks out of the pump because of a bad #5. If something is wrong otherwise, it looks like you'll have to buy the whole assembly.

Food for thought that is Conrice,
I went back to the bike shop yesterday with the iPad and showed them that water pump diagram. The mechanic was away until Monday and the guy I was speaking to wanted to confirm wether there were more internal seals or not. I would have thought they would have been listed on that diagram if there were any, but long of short is on Monday I will find out. If it is just the oil seal and water gasket then all good I can get it in the country for apx $60.00. (About 95% of that is freight cost). Another option is a wrecker in another town has a second hand one there but will need a new outer casing as one of the hose end bits is crunched. Easy enough to switch with my good existing one. Question is will a really top quAlity gasket seal do the trick.
It's only $55 for the second hand one which was ok when removed from bike I've been told other than the stated damage.
Will I need a new seal do you think for the 2nd hand one? Bearing in mind it's purpose is just to test if it's the pump causing the problem. I'll get a new unit in the post which will take 6 weeks (think its a little china man on a canoe bringing it over). The 2nd hand one will A, maybe help diagnose the issue and B, get me back in the road in the meantime......

Thoughts?
