Maybe because it's part of an engine that's running at 200 degrees (???) Just a thought

It's an engine.... it gets hot.... that's what they do, and you're not supposed to touch it

Yeah it does get very hot and hotter than on most bikes I have often wondered why it so hot. My primary concern was that even with the engine temp showing 104 to 106 degrees the fan never cuts in. In fact I dont think I have ever heard or seen the fan running do you smart asses know what temperature the fan cuts in at?

PS take it easy on the new member or you will scare him off. You must admit this bike runs very hot.

I assume you mean 104-106 degrees Celsius, which would be 219-222* F. The fan comes on at 225* F (107* C). It doesn't run any hotter than any other bike or car on the road

But still, who really cares how hot the stator cover gets??

I care!! I sweat my ***** off on a hot day in traffic lol. You havent been to Edinburgh during the festival obviously. You cant move even on a bike. Mind you, its rare that we get a hot day but when we do we all go for it.

in Florida evryday is a hot day(over 90f) this time of year and you just get used to it or drive a car. luckly we dont have a helmet law here so that helps but get used to it. It may sound backwards but wearing long pants on a bike during a hot day helps.

+1 on wearing pants. I wore shorts once just to cruise around and my leg got burned just from the heat coming off the engine

I was wondering what a good temp was for my bike to run at. Sitting at lights it comes up to 104-105C. I guess this is normal. Good to know.

The fan should come on around 220f, I have heard some coming on a little sooner and later if it gets over 230f, shut the bike off. What temp does yours come on???????
