Unhappy Electrical problems

Can anyone help me out with a problem on my 2002 CBR600 Rossi replica FSport. If I ride my bike without the lights on, I can switch it off and it restarts first time. If I ride with the lights on and switch it off the battery is flat and refuses to restart. Within the past year I have fitted a new regulator / rectifier and battery so i'm hoping that they aren't the problem.

Anyone have any ideas, as I'm getting sick of returning from rides before it starts to getting dark, so I dont have to turn the lights on.

Sorry to hear about your problem maybe you'll get more replies on the general tech or in the cbr model

Plus check all your relays if you replaced everything in the charge area

Good luck!

Test your entire charging system: stator, r/r, and battery. Check all your voltage outputs, amp output from the stator as well as winding continuity, and a battery load test. Something may not be right and point to the root of your draw problem.

And.....welcome to the forum!

i would still bet on regler fault... Dunno why, but it's still a weak spot of honda bikes for years. But yeah, check the voltages first..

Default great place to get a Regulator and new plug

I just changed mine today on my 98 cbr900rr, got it from electrosport for $100 plus and extra $15 for the wire harness (mine was melted) got here within a week express shipped but got nailed with custom and taxes... oem at Honda was $209 without the plug and still the old crappy model. the electrosport one is bigger and has the cooling fins on it. My bike is charging beautifully and the only complaint I have is the heat shrink tubes the gave were crap... I wouldn't modify anything, I did that last year and even though my modified regulator worked for the whole summer it died last week at the wrong place and time... $115 well spent with warranty. Attached is a troubleshooting guide. So happy my bike is back! copy paste enjoy :P

If the battery is dead when riding with lights on then the battery is not getting a charge to keep up with the light usage.

Its def something in your charging system , or the battery could just be bad and not excepting the charge its being given

if you take a DVM and test the battery off and running you will see if its charging should be 12.4 at rest and 13 to 14 through the RPM range
