who runs these on the street and how many mile do you get on them? do you run med or soft? are they worth the extra money? iam thinking of a new set of tires for summer. i ride a lot of curves in the summer.

 

i ride dunlops on my 600 and 954....
price is very competitive....
and i ride hard and fast with a lot of curves.....
i would say go for it, but everyone has their own preforence....

 

Wiz... what Dunlops are you using?

I'm using the new Qualifiers and just tested the hell out of them. Warm up very quickly and grip like glue. I just hope they wear well.

 

i was asking about the dunlop gp, i think they are mostly for the track but wondered how they are for the street. i already have the qualifiers now, just wondering about the more track version GP. they have a soft compound and a med.

not recommended for the street. yes they will stick better at all temps, but if you need to run gp tires on the street, you need to either:

1. chill out with your riding...
2. become more smooth instead and stop blaming the tire for not sticking in turns, etc...

too many people use stickier tires to mask inadequacies on their riding. yes, tires help a person to be faster in the turns, but he/she will not be as smooth, and when the time comes to step up to the challenge, their lines may suck, they may be jerky and can't improve because all this time, they've been running stickier tires to mask inadequacies.

i've personally danced around people at the track with stickier tires, going extreme lean angles, etc...simply because their lines just stink. i've also danced around people riding 207s...

It is not a good idea to run race tires on the street. They will never get up to the proper temperature no matter how hard you try. They also start to break down after only a few heat cycles(haeting up and cooling down) so they are basically trash in no time. Plus, they do wear alot quicker than a good street tire so they aren't worth the money.
Go with the 208 ZR or the new Qualifiers. They are actually made for harder riding on the street.
