Default Do it yourself rear swingarm stand

Alright guys, i think i want to attempt to build a rear stand myself. my boss has a welder in the garage and knows very well how to use itbut I dont. but, he, being my boss, is very busy building his own bike if he even has time for that. He's building a 62 Triumph, just so ya know. But, my question is, has anyone built one before? Home done? or, is it not even worth it? I know you can pick one up for $90, i think, but, i think i'd like to just build it anyways. If noone has built one, can someone possibly give me the specs on one? I want to build one that has the flat bars that actually support the swing arm, not the rear axle bolts. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Oh, and, by the way, i've never welded before.

Oh, and, i've got a fully digital lathe and fully digital Mill as well that i do know how to use, so, i do know how to fab up parts, i just don't know how to weld em together.

Alright, i just wasted space here. I just searched, and, found this link in the past forums
http://www.checkeredflagmotorsports.net/stands.html

There, they've got front and rear stands for $100 for the set. So, for $100, i'm not even gonna bother with the headache!!

Ok, does anyone know if Checkered flag is still a sponser here? Or, if it's still in business? I got an answering machine, but, it's just a girl saying, "You've reached ##########. Leave a messege."

So, if not, do any of our current sponsers offer stands at a good price? Please link me up!!

you should be able to make some stands for your bike for pretty cheap without welding if you can get access to a pipe bender. you could bend the pipe to the right design and then just mount wheels and brackets by drilling some holes and using some bolts. let me know if you want me to send you some detailed pictures of my brothers stand that he bought for his YZF600R.

Oh, and, i've got a fully digital lathe and fully digital Mill as well

I believe checkered flag is still in business... but I do not see them in our sponsor list.
Here's an eBay store with the same set up. I'm not saying don't try checkered flag... just giving you another option.

If Checkered Flag is no longer a sponser, i don't feel guilty buying from someone else then. But, Don, is this the guy you orderd your stands from? I'm just a little concerned because he's showing two different types of stands on the same page. He's got the ones he says he's selling, but, then in the demo pics, it's not the same. Just checkin before i spend the money. Thanks in advance

I ordered my Vortex from a shop on line... don't remember where, but as soon as I did... Checkered Flag became a sponsor. I'll ask and see if they are still a sponsor or not... I see the same info that you do.

I would have bought these if I had known about them... I know a couple of members ordered them, but I don't remember who.

Yup, that's the past thread i found when I searched. Thanks. Question for ya, what is on the rear stand that it's just holding up the swing arm? Did those come on the stands? Also, if you could post a close up shot of the front as well I'd appreciate it.

I've got an older F2 that has no spot for spools, and, i don't really want to drill a spot for em, so, if what your pics look like, that just holds the swing arm. That's what i'm lookin for.

I don't have spool either. The rear stand has a metal peg with a rubber sleeve. It holds the back up from under the swingarm. Ill try to post some pics when I get home.

You can check out handy stands too. I'm getting them, their only $100 + shipping for the front and rear stand. Just something else to look at, but I like the look of them.
