Greetings, I want to remove a few of the decals on my 06' 1krr, but worried about paint comming off with them. So, any recomendations? I'm thinking get a fine blade, and slowly work up a corner and slowly peel off the parts I want gone. Are the decals thick, like come off in one peice? Can you tell where they were once they're gone?? Thanks for any input.

 

the best thing to do is get a heat gun and melt the stickers a bit to soften them up and they should peel right off you might have to get some goo gone or something to remove any glue left on the plastic but no it aint gonna take the paint of just stay away from the fine blade idea

 

dennis kirk sells stuff called sticker off! i would try that,
if you heat them TOO much it may melt the plastic but that is alot of heat for a long period.
or peel a corner up with a fingernail and use goo gone!

 

all you need is a hair dryer and slowly warm the decal slide a plastic blade under the edge and slowly pull if the decall tears that ok just keep pulling slowly. after the decal comes off soak meneral spirits in a rag and lay on top of the glue let set for about a min and then the glue will roll up in little ***** and come off.

 

Don't know why I didn't think of the heat-gun, what a no-brainer. The fine blade idea, was to just get a razor and slowly, carefully work up a corner and then peel it off slowly by hand, I wasn't gonna shave the thing off, sorry if any misscommunication on my part. I'll try the heat gun this weekend.

plastic blade... don't use anything sharp please!!!

 

use a hair dryer to heat it up then take a credit card or something like it and gently scrape it off. goo gone is good to get any remaining residue off your bike...you shouldn't be able to tell where the stickers were when ur done.

 

I did the same to my 600rr. I used Sticker and Adhesive Removal from Advanced Auto. You can see pictures of how mine turned out in my oictures. Everything worked out fine.

 

cool. OK, heres the game plan....heat the sucker up bit by bit at the area I am working with and take a plastic blade to work the edge up and peel away. Use goo-gone to clean off excess residue, wash and wax as needed afterwards... Good to go?
