abadbish has some great tutorials on 'the other cbr forum' regarding many bike how to's, including valve check. as far as adjustment, head over to BARF.

one day i'll do one...but i'm not due for another 10K miles....and wife won't let me touch her camera.

Labor time seems resonable to me, especially at $45/hr. That's a cheap labor rate. As far as removing the body work, that only takes a few minutes anyway.
