I change my oil every 1500 miles. I've found that 2000 miles is too much. It really depends on where you live. The dustier the conditions, the more you should change your oil AND air filter.
Another thing to keep in mind is how tight to install your oil filter. Too loose, and you'll have leaks. Too tight, and you'll have leaks. If you don't have a tourque wrench that you can use on your oil filter, a good rule of thumb is this: screw the filter onto the stud until the rubber gasket just makes contact with the engine block. Now, tighten the filter another 3/4 turn. voila!
Also, you don't necessarily have to have a stand to clean/lube your chain in one spot. All you need is a relatively strong friend that you trust. Put the bike in neutral.Have your friend (or you can do it if you think you can hold it) pivot the bike on the kickstand so that the rear wheel comes off the ground. Now, you can freely rotate the rear wheel with your hand so you can clean/lube the chain. <----- this method is probably not good to do all the time, but it's handy in a pinch.

Its super light on the kickstand... I always use the kicker to flip a 180 if I need it in a tight spot. Once you get used to it you can balance it and it takes a finger to spin it around.

You would have just be on my side of it. I get pushed around, kicked around, guys jump on my bike and try to ride off. I have dudes stop me in the middle of the f*ckin road, hell I even QUIT riding my bike to the clubs because I can barely make it in the door without some drunk stupid a$$ **** grabbin at my ****.....I'm sorry for being defensive....It's not easy for me to just go out and injoy a peaceful ride across the country side.
