crossed the +/- cables on battery...wont start. HELP
Hello. My friend tried to jump start his 02 F4i and accidentally corssed the positive and negative cables. he said that it wont start anymore. Does anyone know what this oculd be?? he said he checked the fuses and they seem to be good.
First off what do you mean by doesn't start, does it turn over? I would double check the fuses. I takehe was jumping it because the battery was flat. I would make sure that battery isn't dead
Make sure the battery is good then turn the key and splain to me exactly what it does. If nothing comes on (lights, gauges etc) then I'd recheck the fuses with an ohm meter. If they check out o.k. then I'd examine the regulator/rectifier.
How did he jump it.....car with motor running, car with motor off, another bike running/off....I saw many people come into the Motorcycle dealership i used to work at who jumped their bike from a running car and melted the rectifier and fuse block...
If you jump a bike, always do it from a non-running (12v of course) vehicle....12v is 12v no matter what, but as soon as you are jumping from a running motor, the alternator is pushing amperage

to check to see if the battery is dead...lick both your thumbs, put a light bulb in your mouth, and then attach the wet thumbs to the battery posts...buahahahhah...
