crooked frame
hi folks,
i have a 2004 cbr600rr. i laid it down back in 04 and didn't have full coverage (yes, i was an idiot) so i only got the major mechanical stuff fixed. anyways, my frame has been noticably crooked since. if you look at it... as a matter of fact i'm going to take a picture of it right now...
you can see from the back that the license plate isn't aligned w/ the rear tire, and the rear light isn't aligned w/ the exhaust. so it's crooked. i've been riding it like that for the past few yrs now, i guess i'm used to it. but recently, it seems like it's getting worse, i don't know why. sometimes when i ride (i mostly do fwy's, commuting to school) it just feels like it's wiggly or something. i don't know if it's just in my head, but it's been on the back of my mind for the past few weeks, but just recently it feels like it's getting noticeably worse... but i don't know if maybe it's all in my head. i did just get the front wheel replaced a couple mos ago, maybe it wasn't tightened correctly? or, the other thing i think, is the uneven pavement on the fwy.
before i spent alot of money to have it checked out i thought i'd see what the experts here thought? can the frame get worse just by riding it? how does a slightly crooked frame affect performance? does my description of the problem point to a different problem/solution?
thanks.

You sure the subframe is just crooked and not the main frame? From what it looks like in the picture only the subframe looks messed up which hypotheticly wouldn't make your bike wobble. It would just effect how you sat on the bike. I'd check to make sure the tires are aligned and start from there.
It's hard to tell from the picture whether it's the subframe or swingarm but I'd guess it's the subframe. If it seems like everything is all wiggly then it may be that the bolts that hold the subframe to the frame are becoming loose. If the impact was hard enough to bend the subframe, it more than likely jarred those bolts also and they just have took some time to start loosening up. I'm not really certain without having a closer look.
alright, thanks fellas. so i guess the crooked frame/subframe wouldn't be a cause forthe wobbly feeling? i'm gonna try and take it down to the shop and have them make sure they tightened the front tire properly and see if they'd take it for a test spin around the block.
then if they don't find anything, i'll check all the nuts and bolts.
thanks again.
