Default clymer wire diagram

Hello all, I would have liked my first post to be about a nice new CBR but instead its about my 87 600 Hurricane that has no spark,

We "Thinned out" all the wires I didn't need on the harness (headlight, taillight, signal, plate light, dashboard) and when that was all done I came across a green wire that had no home it just has a round washer type connector on the end of it like a ground to frame connection would.

So the big problem I have right now is the diagram at the back of the book says the green wire to the Spark Unit (CDI) is supposed to be 12v supplied, but on page 38 of the CLYMER manual it shows a ignition system diagram with a green wire and the CDI ground so now I have no clue.

oh and the diagram also shows a green/white going from the clutch swithch to the CDI which isin't even on my bike ??

so there you have it, To ground or not to ground.............that is the question.

Not familiar with your bike's electrical system -- usually the solid colored wires carry current. Since there are so many wires (you know that don't ya) the black=hot, green=ground, white=neutral doesn't really apply to vehicles. Sorry but that's all I got for ya -- I don't envy anyone trying to track down electrical gremlins[:'(]

Well I now am sure that the green is 12v supply because it branches to just about every light and indicator light and starts at the rectifier,
but I'm still not sure what that one green with the loop on the end of it would have been feeding, (dam me and my lack of labels)

I am going to perform the factory test, for the stator, rectifier and CDI and see which one needs replacing.

thanx for the input

Well is was worth a try, (anything is at this point) I tried what you said and made that one green wire a ground despite what my diagram says and the bike fired right up, doesn't make sense to me but I'll take it

thanx for saving me some more hassle chainstretcher
