cct whine?
Does anyone's cam chain tensioners whine @ idle? I think maybe where my wierd whine is coming from. When I scope it I get the whine from the tensioner housing all the way thru the bottom end in line with the cam chain. The whine fades as I rev the bike?(or the load exhaust masks it).Should this worry me? Is it a common problem with these bikes? I have had some noisey bikes and I know what valve, cam, bad crank noise sounds like and this is different. No different with clutch in or out. I know its tough to give advice without hearing it for yourself but any input is appreicated. Its a fairly loud whine and its a 929rr.

I don't know much about 929's but on my F4i the CCT rattled, not whined. It only did it at the 5,000-7,000 RPM range but made no niose at an idle

Did you have to replace it?? Because mine does that and it's really annoying.. is it bad for the bike?
that's cause the cctl making noise in the F4i is not BAD...it's just that there are increases in tolerances due to wear, etc.
to the OP...if you had just recently changed the cctl (not cct...cct is the tensioner)...and used a manual one...it sounds like it's too tight.

CCT can harm the engine. If it would go completely bad it will allow the cam chain to get way to much slack. This could cause it to jump time and send the pistons straight into the valves.

in what way can it harm the engine? and when?
