CBR900RR Flywheel
Ok, I have been pulling apart my motor to rebuild. Bearings went out, not sure if they are Rod bearings or thecrank bearings, but the honda manual says I have to remove the flywheel before seperating the crank case. Is this accurate? Or can I seperate the case and let the crank come down with the flywheel attached? If I do have to take the flywheel off, they call for a special tool to remove it. Any other ways to do it without buying the tool? Am I mistaken in assuming that the flywheel is just reverse threaded and maybe a strap would take it off without damaging the wheel? Thanks for any help.
anytime you are removing part of the rotating assembly, they will recommend you use some obscenely priced tool, that just holds everything from moving. but an impact wrench eliminates that need since it smacks the nut loose too fast for anything else to spin. now as far as being standard or reverse threads... couldnt tell you, but id definetely find that out first if you were going to slam the air tools to it, lol
