Default CBR600 F4 oil filter

I just bought an oil filter at Honda dealership today and it cost me 21 bucks. I was wondering if you guys all get oil filter at dealership or there are better places to go to. I was under the impression that the oil filter is different than say car oil filter so that's why I went to the dealership.

i use a car filter on my 929. your f4 is the same. its the same filter that fits later honda and nissan cars. cross a fram# 6607. i use an oem japanese manufacturer (NPN). cost me $2.50. i try to get what comes in white or black, thats good quality. i dont like seeing a blue or orange filter in there.

I get a K&N from the local shop and they are $9.99.
And they come with a nut on the end for easy install and removing.

My supplier is $13.87. The "expensive" shop in town charges $15.95.

So a car filter is good on our bike?
Can someone confirm whether Fram 6607 will fit on my F4?

Yes, Fram PH6607. Although the F4 isn't an option in Fram's application list, the 929 & RC51 are...& they use the same oil filter as the F4.

Here's the link... http://www.framcatalog.com/Application.aspx?b=F

i was at walmart, getting my rotella t oil, some years back. i saw that they had motorcycle filters. i looked up my application, mainly because i bought one from the dealer and got bent over, just to see if there was a different option. the book with all the bike listings said that it was the 6607, not a bike number at all. being a mechanic that uses those filters all day long on cars, i started running the higher quality japanese filters that i carry in stock. i have had no problems at all. they are the same filter. the factory listings wont tell you that, but the after market will.

i don't use fram, just the number for reference.
