Default CBR 9 front wheel conversion

Ok... you're GOOD! You caught that little "misprint" in the title line.

I posted this here because i know many of you used to own either a 1998 or 1999 CBR900RR.
I'm researching this for a friend who is trying to swap his 16" front rim for a 17" front CBR type rim. Idea is to keep the same design wheel up front but move to the 17 diameter.

I did this swap on my 95-97 Fireblade with no problem using a 97 VFR front wheel. problem is on the 98-99 Blade the forks are wider apart and therefore we need some input

The spacers are too short now because the F3 front wheel he has is narrower than the 98 stock wheel. Also we are unsure if the F3 rotors are at the correct spacing to 'slide' into the 98 brake calipers.

Anyone done this swap to a 98-99 Blade?

I havent actually done the swap, but took a freinds F3 wheel off and measured everything and it looked to me like a straight up deal. Are you posative you have an F3 wheel. That I think is why most people run into problems. Anyway, his rim measured the same width as mine. All that needed to be done from an ACTUAL F3 was use the F3 rim, use the 900 rotors, 900 spacers and 900 axle. I'd make sure you have an F3 rim and not F2. Alot of F2 scams on Ebay these days because of this swap.

I'm pretty sure he has an actual F3 rim from a 1998 CBR600. The thing with doing this swap to a 1998 or 99 Blade is this: For 98-99 Honda widened the front end ( spaced the fork legs further apart from each other than previous years of the 900RR).

Also for 98 Honda changed the front brake rotors and i'm not sure if they are dished in or out more than in the 95-97 900RR.
