CBR 600 info
Hi
I am after some info on the 600 series motors in the CBR's. Specificaly which models came with EFI/Carbi and changes in the blocks and heads between different year models. I am part of a Australian Formula SAE team and we plan to use a CBR 600's motor and drive train for our openwheeler car. The engine/cooling team has decided on a CBR 600 for a few reasons; availibility, parts, EFI components and price. We need an efi engine but will be replacing the standard intake manifold for our own designs to meet regulations. The ECU will be replaced so we can tune the motor to extract every last HP out of it. Exhaust system will be fabricated to suit the car and the transmission will remain with the engine and belt drive the rear axel as needed.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the differences between the blocks per year so that if we purchase say a 1996 carbi model motor later a EFI motor will bolt into the original mounts for ease of transplant. Also starting with a EFI motor will be ideal because it will already have alot of nessicary gear for our aftermarket ECU eg; map sensor, CAS, snesors in general.
Thanks in advance
Jason Broadhurst.
As to not double post can you lads let the other CBR600 channel know about this please!
