Can Anyone tell me where this wire goes

Check the manual to see what that specific fuse is for. That might be a clue.
If the bike completely loses power while riding, and that wire has +10v and is just flaoting around, I bet it's hitting a ground point randomly (frame, etc) and shorting the entire electrical system. Normally this would just cause the fuse to blow, but that's never a guarantee. The tow home just shakes it back away from whatever it's touching. You can verify this by just wrapping the ring terminal in electrical tape and securing the wire to something.

Is there anyway that you can post up some better photos of the area where the wire is ? Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Does it look like a factory wire, or something that someone put on as part of installing an accessory ? A way to tell would be if the wire is inside the tape along with the rest of the main wiring harness.
