Bump Starting
i Got a 93 cbr 600 recently and had the infamous issue where the engine case that holds the starter boss gear in place broke and the starter just no longer contacts the gear. i was not going to let it ruin the rest of my season so i started to bump start it whenever i wanted to ride. My issue is that it is very difficult to bump start the bike when cold. I have tried many different methods, using 2nd or 3rd gear, slamming my butt on the seat when i release the clutch, running to my terminal velocity while in neutral then slamming it in 1st, i have also tried playing with the throttle before and while releasing the clutch hoping it can pull more fuel in and no luck. i usually keep switching between these methods for 15-20 min then it will start whenever it feels like it. Once started and warmed up i can bump start it 1st try every time. I assume the issue is that when the engine is cold it has more compression so im fighting that when bump starting. Im wondering if there is any way i can be more consistent on my cold starts so im not taking up my street for half an hour going back and fourth sweating my *** of trying to bump start it. no I'm not putting a engine in it and yes i have tried to weld the case and that failed after 2 weeks.
