i just recently got an autocom for my bike. works prety good. what other units are u guys riding with for rider/passenger, bike to bike talking?

what radio are u using with the autocom for bike to bike?

i got the autocom active plus duo. i currently have it running off the 9v battery, it sits in my pocket and or backpack(im looking at a tank bag right now) the kit came with two head sets, two extention cables, one battery to autocom wire/or 9v batter wire, aux wire, and one phone to autocom wire.

anyone have an XM radio wired up? is there a thread started already that has pictures of peoples dash setups?

I just recently purchased a Scala Rider Q2 headset and it works great. You can pair it with your phone/gps/ or anything else bluetooh, or it comes with a cable you can plug into the headset unit itself. Sound quality for talking is great. very loud and clear. I've done 90+ on these and people can't tell I'm on a bike. Sounds quality for audio is alright. if you have an mp3 plugged into the headset it is in stereo, if you try to play music through a phone its mono, but still sounds decent, better than nothing.

There are downsides to the unit though. You can only pair up to 3 units together. So your headset and 2 buddies. It does not work as a conference call either, you direct connect to one at a time. For the price I paid for my single headset (145 shipped) it was a good investment. My dad purchased his multiset, which comes with two headsets for $250 shipped. We're both very pleased with them.

 

I've got an autocom as well. For bike to bike I've been using GMRS/FRS radios. It works, but is not full duplex. I've been tinkering in my workshop with a full duplex transceiver - same kit as in a cordless phone.

 

I have the chatterbox gmrs set up. They work great for group rides and for piping in your music and/or phone. My only complaint is that they are on the bulky side.

 

well i tested the phone calling with the autocome, works great. was told that they couldnt tell i was on the bike riding down the highway at 75. hapy with that so far.
