Default Any1 read the CDI box signal with an oscilloscope?

Just wondering if anyone has probed the CDI output to the coils on their bike with an oscilloscope? I'm wondering if its a true square wave signal, or if its sloppy. I can get a reading off my bike with my scope in a week and a half, but I'd like to know what I'm gonna see so I can start designing a circuit for something.

I have not done it with my F4i, but I helped a friend when he was doing a custom fuel injection system. It was pretty much a straight square wave with some overshoot on the leading and trailing edges of the pulse. We were using a tektronix digitizing scope, so it may have smoothed out some of the roughness.

And yea... what are you trying to make?

investigating the possibility of a homemade ignition amplifier and interrupt.

I guess the next question is why Are you not getting a powerful enough spark? As for the interrupt.... for full throttle shifting or something?

every other gas engine vehicle I have owned got 1-2 mpg better fuel mileage and burned cleaner after I put an MSD box on it. This time though I'm strapped on cash since I just moved, so figured I would try to build one this time around.

It originated as a full throttle shifter idea, and has progressed from there. Full throttle shifter, maybe an automatic shifter, ignition amplifier. I cant just be done with a vehicle. If I get done with the mods I wanted to do, then I think up more.

-edit- freakin typos

I'm not sure how the F3's are setup, but are they direct ignition coils? I have an F4i and it has ignition coils, not a distributor. Wouldn't an ignition amplifier be pointless on a direct ignition coil system since the coil sits directly on top of the spark plug? Again, I don't know how an F3 is setup, and I don't claim to be an expert on ignition systems

the coils are under the airbox, with plug wires going to the spark plugs.
