Another oil thread!

Hey guys! I am new to the street scene, but I have ridden dirtbikes all my life. I just recently purchased a 2002 CBR 600 F4i. As soon as I got the bike home I change the oil and oil filter using Castrol Motorcycle oil.
Anyway my question, do any of you run Rotella in your CBR's? I am currently running Rotella in my 08 KTM 250XC-F and have used it in other MX bikes for the last few years, and this stuff holds up great! Just wanted to get any info on this. Not looking to start a debate or anything like that. Just some feedback on why or why you can't run Rotella.

Thanks,
Phillip

i run mobil 1 4t 10w40 synthetic, ive always run mobil 1 synthetic in all my cars trucks and bikes, but thats me just my preference, if you used the search feature and typed in oil or rotella you would find tons of posts, lots and lots of members here use rotella and most if not all who use it swear by it it has never done them wrong and you cant beat the price, it is good stuff, i would def go with synthetic tho in whatever oil you choose.

Thanks again for all your help guys!

As long as I've owned a motorcycle from Triumphs, BSA etc and now a modern Honda, there has always been a lot of controversy about which oil to use! My friend and I used to argue till the cows came home about which oil to use and I was always in favour of the multigrades when they first appeared. You could only get a 'straight grade' oil in my youth and multigrade oils were always treated with suspicion by the diehards! Look in the handbook and see what it tells you there and about when to change it and the filter. Honda test many bikes to find the best oil and if they recommend a particular oil then use that. Just stick to the correct service intervals and you won't have any problems. I used to work for a well known oil company and when Uniflo came out it was a revelation! Don't waste money on expensive oils. It's not necessary. Watch out for the replies to this one! LOL!

My service manual says change every 8k miles. I find that to be a little long. I still change every 3000 miles. I use Motul oil in mine.

Here is some light reading. :)
