Adjusting Clutch Lever?
Hey guys,
I have a 98 CBR900RR and the clutch lever is really far from the handlebar and I was wondering if there was any way to adjust it so that the lever is closer to the handlebar without buying the CRG or ASV levers (which are crazy expensive)?
Thanks!
Ray

If you look at where your cable goes into the lever assembly, there should be a large round nut. This is the locking nut. Loosen it, then turn in the smaller nut clockwise and it will let slack in the cable and allow the clutch lever to sit closer to the handlebar. I would adjust it till the engagement happens about 1/4 inch away from the handlebar. I wouldn't go any closer than that otherwise you run the risk of the clutch not fully disengaging when you pull in the clutch. Just be ready for the ratio to be off a bit and your clutch will engage less progressively. Its not much, but it will be noticable.
dont forget to tighten the lock nut when your done.

The lever gets further away from the bar the further your hand is down the grip, it may just be a matter of changing your hand position.
Is there any room that can you slide the clutch perch a little further down the bar closer to the end of it? This would allow your hand to stay roughly in the same position on the grip, but the distance out to the lever may be a smidge closer.
Bear in mind you lose some of the mechanical advantage of your fingers, the closer you try and pull the lever at it's pivot point. This isn't a huge change, 'cause we're only talking millimeters here, but just something to consider if your clutch is already a bit of a stiff pull.
thanks for the info gentlemen... i like the clutch engagement the way it is, i already feel like it is shorter than i would like it to be, but i'll try the methods above. thanks!
