Default 96 f3 noise

Hi all I bought a 96 600f3 a few months ago. Been checking things out during that time, finally fired her up runs good but has a pretty loud ticking noise. Checked valve clearances according to the service manual, have an ape tensioner adjusted it per their instructions. Can't figure it out!!
Noise increases/decreases with throttle.

All the time, I live in Alaska so I'm definitely not riding now...lol! It sounds like it's around the front of the engine. But using a screw driver to listen it seems noisy around the clutch area. Bike has 21,000 miles, maybe clutch is worn?

Maybe worth getting a gasket and pulling off the clutch cover to have a look, but just before you do that ,try adjusting the clutch cable to see if it will stop the clicking

Ok thanks, I have video of it but haven't figured out yet how to post it on here. Also when I do pull in the clutch there is zero resistance, the arm on the case moves but it feels weak.

Hi, could be previous owner had the cover off, and might not have presented the cover in the right manner when putting it back on, the lever has to be held back when installing, so you might have to take the cover off anyway, have you got the workshop manual to assist you

Yes it is quite a sound, is it coming from the clutch, or the headers, its more of a contact sound though
