Default 96 f3 crankshaft

Hi all, had a ticking noise from engine pulled it apart found #3 bearing almost gone. Got all new bearings and started to assemble, plastigauged everything per the manual and the #3 con rod didn't pass. The crank is badly worn, found one on eBay for a 95 got it today and found out that the connecting rods are wider on a 96....what a drag!!! I thought 95-98 where mostly the same, anyone have info on this?

Thanks very interesting article, not quite what I was looking for, know about the different bearings. Need to know what year they changed the width of con rod. Hoping someone that has been in a few different engines could chime in.

After some research that's what I am thinking. It was listed from a 95 but I'm thinking it's 91-94 f2. Sent the seller a message explaining the issue, he accepts returns but wants me to pay return shipping. Contacted ape trying to get hard proof that it is not from a 95.

There is NO difference in the crank from '95 to '98. He sent you one from an earlier or a later one, or hell, it might not even be a CBR crank. All you know is that it is not the right one, and not the crank he advertised.

Take it up with eBay. He needs to a) learn what the hell he's selling, and b) eat the shipping costs.

Thanks for your response, this is what I was hoping to hear. I was sure I was right about f3 being the same just needed some assurance. Definitely going to get with eBay and get this taken care of. Thanks again for the help!!!
