Oh, and the fact that my HISS suddenly began to flash (as it should) again, could this mean I have wiring woes just below the fuse box area, because as I wiggled fuses out it came back to life?

Looks like the Red/Black wire from fuse box to ignition switch could be shorting somewhere along its route, also the White/Black from the fuse box to the starter /kill switch, can you check those out, and try and secure fuse box

Cheers man, yeah it'd def indicate towards those areas for sure. I did a major bit of messing around installing 3 HIDs when I first bought the bike but wires were shorting every friggin route I tried them, current was way too strong for the wiring, which was fairly heavily insulated! I have just the dip running a HID now but it's properly set up this time without any wiring breaks and DIY attachments.

I'm guessing my messing around possibly has led to a gradual burn out somewhere!

Just while we're on the subject, how big and undertaking would it be to completely rewire a 954? 14yrs old and seems electrical gremlins pop up once they get to a certain age, similar probs all over the net with various models of bikes. I used to drive FIAT Coupe 20vt's (1998-1999 era) and it was the same with them, electrics/wiring started to go south as they got over 10yrs old

One for a DIY'er or best left to a pro?

fixed!! Took all apart, pulled and checked all connectors, all looked good, tried to start her and wouldn't fired.

Pulled that 30amp fuse, saw it was corroded white, cleaned it up and jumped from the car and bang she fired. idled for approx 10mins, switched off and **** myself but she fired straight on the button tried 3 restarts and lit up like a new bike each time.

Ran diagnostic and the cam gen and IAT codes are gone.

Could that feckin 30amp fuse have caused all this woe? weird that it could have been the cause of those two fault codes????

Hi Dec111, just shows what time can do to wiring systems, I'm a believer in dielectric grease , dont use wd40, it will keep component damp free and protect, glad you got it sorted.

Cheers for the input man, going to thoroughly clean and protect all connections over the next few weeks

Ah ha, have now spotted another little cunning fault adding towards random jerkiness!

My twist grip isn't smooth, it's sticking slightly when 3/4 to fully open and then returning to closed very slowly in a start stop manner, and hence I reckon that is making it feel like a coil misfire when I'm on off the throttle!!!

Thoughts?

Grease twist grip and/or throttle cables? Or do cables need adjusted? Haven't ever adjusted throttle on any of my other bikes before, I'm assuming it's simple?
