maybe i can help out with this one a lil bit since i have both. my girl has an 02 f4i and i have an 03 600rr. after riding the f4i for awhile then hopping on the rr it is definately a different seating position. the 600rr clip ons are mounted under the triple and the f4i clip ons are mounted on top of it so your not leaned over as much on the f4i. the seat on the rr isnt soft at all. i could ride the f4i a lot longer than i could the rr. the f4i is definately better in the comfort department. the rr feels more nimble than the f4i and feels just a tad quicker but not by much. my girl has no problem keeping up with me when she is on the f4i. both are great bikes and even though i have the rr i still like to ride the f4i too.

Aside from the engine displacement they are completely different. The F4i is older technology but more comfortable, the RR is newer/faster/better but a torture rack for some people because of the lower clip-on position.
Newer F4is have the banana seat which most people dislike, but if you ever plan on having a girl ride with you it is definitely a plus.
I guess it goes back to what is important to you, getting chicks (F4i) or riding quickly, sleeping alone and having sore wrists (RR), the choice is yours.
If your gona buy a new bike get the RR cus the new F4i's are ugly. but the older F4i's are as sexy as any RR.

Well, when it comes to riding with any of your friends or just many of the people around town on a track, you won't notice a big difference in the lap times of similarly skilled riders. Yes, the RR is technically a more track oriented bike(and will be faster in the hands of a competent and very capable rider)but the majority of the people that you'll ride with aren't going to extract the full potential of either the RR or the F4i.
If you're going to ride a lot(as in almost daily) then I'd recommend the F4i. It's pretty comfortable yet will also easily keep up with other bikes in the twisties when you decide to. However, if you're mainly just going out for short, spirited, corner carving rides or going to do track days...then ****** up the RR and see if you can extract the full potential of it. Really it's a no lose situation. You'll have a great bike with either one that you choose.
I personally have an F4i...it's in the sig(with me doing some corner carving).
However if I had the money, I would have both of them plus numerous other bikes. My wife is okay with my plans of a garage full of bikes...now if I can just get my wallet to comply. haha. Good luck with your decision. Hope some of my info helped.
