Default 600f 1987 engine rebuild?

I took the bike out and oil light came on, had to drive it as was stuck out in middle of no we’re bike started making some crazy banging noises and the engine just seized, I’m now contemplating stripping it down and fixing it or is it worth buying a replacement engine ( found one for 150€) I have not much knowledge but with YouTube and manual I’m sure I could find and fix problem , it’s just many many hours, any one got any advice :/

Buy the replacement engine.

Running the old engine with the oil light on until it makes banging noises will have done major damage to almost every component - it would cost far more to renovate that replace.

Even if you have to do some work on the new engine you should still be in profit.

With your existing engine you're likely looking at new crank, camshaft, pistons, possible rebore, main bearings, ...

Ok so just spoke to the guy I will pick up the engine next week 130€ he said it’s been stored inside , oil in cylinders and was working when it was removed, bike fell over and didn’t want to restore it so sold in parts,

so next step is removing this one and then getting new one in , I haven’t yet looked at manual but I suppose it’s just disconnect everything connected to it and take it out :/ , any one give me any heads up to anything I should have in mind or any hurdles I may come up against,

also the oil light came on and then from there I had the issue , so should I be looking in to something there ! Thanks guys for all the knowledge and help

Easy way to do engine-swap is to hang bike. Then use floor-jack under engine to remove and to push up new one into position.

Take lots of photos of every single wire-connector you unplug and every single vacuum hose and where it goes...
