520 Gone Wrong?
So i bought a 520 chain con. kit. Vortex sprockets -1/+2 and a RK 520xso chain came with it and i started to work on it last night got the link on and ready to go and then i looked at the chain its damn near touching the ground. So im thinking i did something wrong, went though it all and everything looks fine to me atleast. But i can't figure out what's going on with the chain i mean it's a 120 link chain so i wondering if it was the wrong size chain but i can't figure out what the is going on.I have looked online and every place i go to won't say the size of the chain that i would need. Please help last good day of riding tomorrow and i have to get out. By the way i ride a 97 f3.

RE: 520 Gone Wrong?
Sounds like your replacement chain is a bit too long. You'll need to get a chain breaker and shorten it. You can pick one up at a bike shop or online if you feel like waiting. It just pushes the pin out of whatever link you pick.
Handy fact: If you don't push the pin completely out, it's quite easy to put the chain back together again, using the chain break tool to push the pin in.

i have the same kit, and you will find that you will have to leave it a link long and adjust your wheel right back, i found if i have cut it at the length with the rear wheel all the way forward, that the chain ws too tight, but if i left a link in it was a little long, so will take another link out when it stretches a little.... good luck

RE: 520 Gone Wrong?
Do you still have your old chain? Count the number of links and then start by adding 4 (but this will probably too long but your better off cutting it too long than too short). If it's too long then cut off the next 2 links and try it again.
This probably won't help much but it will give you an idea: On my 600RR here is what I have in my race notes about what chain length to use when with different sprocket combos I have:
(-0/+0) 16:43 = 112 (stock gearing)
(-0/+1) 16:44 = 112 or 114
(-0/+2) 16:45 = 114
(-1/+0) 15:43 = 112
(-0/+3) 16:46 = 114
(-1/+1) 15:44 = 112
(-0/+4) 16:47 = 114
(-1/+2) 15:45 = 114
(-1/+3) 15:46 = 114
(-1/+4) 15:47 = 114

or...pull the rear wheel completely forward, then wrap the chain all the way around as it should go on...then cut off the excess...but not too tight mang...otherwise, you won't be able to get the master on there.
kits usually come with lots of links and you cut to fit.
