Default 2nd gear jumping HELP!!

was riding around on my 97 900rr today when i gave it in 2nd and the gear went out and than came back in...it feels just like the chain jumped a few teeth...than i got mad so i gave it really hard in 2nd and than it jumped out reved than when the rmps when down a little it went back in gear.only does it now at random times.anyone ever had this happen to them..

i ahve it happen very rarely on my 1000rr but when it does it is usually because the tranny is in a flase neutral. but on a bike that old i would check the shift forks and the shift drum.....
edit: and also the tranny gears themselves if you have the time,know-how and money

It is possible your clutches are slipping under hard load especially if they havent been replaced since the bike was new

i just had a new clutch put in last winter so thats all good so all signs i think are pointing toward the tranny ...i was hoping not but i guess i have to start to pull stuff apart...well if any one else has an idea let me know...

It definitelysounds like a bent shift fork. Especially with it being 2nd gear...

when i rip it down and look at the shift forks...will i be able to tell what one is bent...or do i just replace them all...also when doing this what should i all replace when im in there cuz i don;t want to do this twice

well just got my bike back together and it works great...it was a bent shift fork...but while i was in the i replace all three forks,fork rod,shift drum and all gaskets...came to 280 bucks..it took me 2 hours to rips it down and than 3 to put it back together...thanx everyone for the help on this one...if anyone ever has a questions on doing this just drop me an email

I am new i just put new shift drums and forks in my 93 900rr and it is better i acn use 2nd now but when i get on it hard it is like it skips a tooth and then crabsit wouldn't go into 2nd at all before idid the drum and forks help should i replace the two gears (32t) (27t) let me know please. thanks
