Default 2006 Cbr 1000 spark plug change help.

I have a 2006 Cbr 1000. It has 14k miles on it. I just recently purchased it. There is a little of a delay when I get on the throttle. I cleaned out k&n filters, oil and radiator/coolant flush and now on to the plugs. In the manual it shows how to get to the plugs by dropping the radiator down. My question is; can I go through the top? Lifting the gas tank up and removing the air box cover? Anyone experience this? Any pointers? I've heard that this is a pain in the ***. What about gaping the plugs? Can I use a flat feeler gauge or do I have to use the round? Bike doesn't have a power commander. Only upgrades are exhaust and air filters. Thanks guys. -Nelson
