Default 2002 exhaust header pipe studs and nuts

Hi. Does anyone know where I can buy some exhaust header pipe studs and nuts in stainless? All mine came out with the nuts still attached and I broke a stud but luckily it came out with a stud extractor. The nuts should have come off and left the studs in the head, but they were all corroded to the studs. Copper slip comes into mind! Just wish the previous owner(s) had used some! LOL! Thanks.

I had the same problem. I'll be buying new oem ones. I've never seen them in stainless...I'm sure you could get a machine shop to make some but I'm sure that'll cost more than you care to know...

Just replace the nuts with stainless and it won't stick to the studs so badly.

What I do is use brass nuts instead of steel. Brass shouldn't corrode in the first place but if the stud corrodes stopping the nut from coming off the soft brass will strip before the stud snaps.

If you intend on EVER removing your downpipes again I would highly recommend brass nuts and copious amounts of copper grease, it doesn't matter what metal your studs are made from if you use brass nuts.

Thanks to all of you great guys who replied. I eventually decided to go the OEM route and new studs and nuts are coming into my local dealer on Saturday. I agree about the brass nuts and copper slip and just wish whoever had the pipes off last had used at least the copper slip. While I'm waiting for new studs etc I've got plenty of time to clean the rest of the bike including the fairing, engine and silencer! Should look a lot better once it's all back together.
