RE: 100+ octane fuel
All stock, 4month old cbr600rr. Ping is at low speed about 40mph, dunno if its still there at higher speeds cause the sound of air get loud. I get it about 1 in every 5-8 rides, so its rare. no over heating, everything seems fine. However, I just dropped my bike for the 3600 mile service and told them about it. I'll see what they'll say tomorrow when I go get it. Even though, I still like to know how to add octane to fuel, I would prefer 100+ octane, if its not a pain in the a$$ doing it everyday, cause I fill my tank everyday [sm=gears.gif]

RE: 100+ octane fuel
The reason your bike is "knocking" is because you're lugging it. The 600RR is meant to be revved dude. Especially starting off or up an incline you gotta let that baby breathe ... give it RPM's and I promise the "knock" will go away
Please don't waste any money on octane boosters -- they will not in any way help your problem.

RE: 100+ octane fuel
If you want to boost your octain, get some VP racing fuel. Or find a Unical 76 station that has a 100 octain pump. I know in So cal we have 100octain pumps at SOME 76 stations. BUT
I ran out of fuel *dont ask how or why* lol. I just did, and my buddy brought me a coupel gallons of regular...my bike didnt ping or knock...but I did notice a huge performance loss.
So, i don't know what to tell you if the octain does not work. DONT spend the money on a 'octain' booster, they dont work for ****. VP 142 and mix it 1/2 - 1/2. My 2 cents.

RE: 100+ octane fuel
kidding me? 87? thats ridculous.. the manual says use 98, look up racing sites and other info, on track they use 100+
oh i got my bike back today, its sounds better... here petrol stations don't have higher octane fuel, cause there's no demand on it...
thanks however...

A CBR600 does not need more than 87 octane. You will have worse performance with higher octane. STOP wasting your money!!!!!!

Yes, there is actually les Energy in higher octane fuel. It burns slower and is a waste of money and your engines potential. Our ECU is not designed to take advantage of higher octane fuel.
Unless you have a dyno, a knock sensor and a wideband w/ egt. I seriously doubt you have the tools to take full advanteage of the higher octane rating.
If you were to raise octane thoug, id use race gas, jet fuel, or toulene/xylene.
