Default '07 CBR125R not starting

Hi everyone,

Me and a friend did a basic service for the bike a day ago, we changed the oil, spark plug and the radiator coolant. Everything was going OK and I rode the bike back home without much issue.

In the morning today when I tried to start it it wouldn't work. It sounded like the fuel injection system was running, when I turned the key to 'on' I could hear something near the battery running continuously, wouldn't start though.

I changed the battery to a new one, well it was at least 8 months old, but it hadn't been opened or used. I heard the engine crank a bit, but it still wouldn't start. Then later I tried push starting the bike, it sounded like it started up temporarily but then stalled.

I'm just worried now that I've spammed the engine with fuel and the spark plug isn't sparking now, what should I do? The fuel injection seems to work now, it doesn't continuously whirr now.

The problem has been sorted now, I reverted back to the old spark plug and it started instantly. Still don't know why it suddenly stopped working with the newer on this morning. Also had to revert back to the older battery and it was fine.

Both were in the factory manual as being OK. CR8E (older) and CR9E (newer), I put in the CR9E.

Trouble is over, but I'd still like to know what went wrong.

Did you go with a different style spark plug? Did you check the gap before it was installed?

Different style? It just looks like a standard spark plug. Yes, I checked the gap, it was within the specifications.

I suspect the CR9E is just not as good for cold starts, and with me flooding the engine by repeated start attempts it just wouldn't fire.

Oh well, I'll stick with the CR8E.

What I mean by different style is the number of prongs, etc. Always use the recommended plugs and gap them accordingly.
