Default 04 CBR fan not working!!

My bike is over heating while at idle. The out side temp was 34F the bike idled for about 3min and the temp shot upwards of 242F and kept climbing so i shut it down. All fluid levels are good but the fan never kicked in.

Can anyone tell me if the fan has a fuse/where to find it or how to check to see if the fan is good?!? I pulled a manuel off line but it doesnt seem to list much info on this or maybe Im just not seeing it.

Sounds like you got a bigger problem than just the fan not coming on. It takes my bike longer than that to get to operating temp (at least 120 before I ride it) in the summer. You might have a bad water pump or worse yet a bad oil pump. Along with the fan problem. Good luck Bro.

Well you can check the cheaper things first, the fuses are under the seat beside the battery, in the fuse box is a diagram on what fuse is for each thing. Check it out first if it seems well then we have to check the thermostat i think, maye the thermostat is the reason why the bike gets hot too quickly...

Cheers

I hope its not the oil/coolant pump!! The guy droped the bike off to me last Thurs, he lives 30mls away and when he got to my place the bike was running fine. Now I start it up for the first time and its broke already!?! Seems more like a fuse to me but I will be sure to check tonight when I get home. Thanks for the ideas I will keep you posted.

After starting the bike again the temp held around 190-200F. But I did notice a small oil leak from the right side engine cover. Looks like someone over tightened a bolt which pushed the rubber seal out. Is it better to use the liquid rubber seal or do they make a cork seal for this? Maybe I should pay someone to fix this?
