Default 02 f4i starting problems

i have an 02 600f4i that was dumped and has been sitting in a garage for about a year. i dont really know my way around bikes that well so i need some direction to start with. the starter button was broken and the previous owner cut the ignition wires to bypass it and make a starter switch so it cranks. here are the problems i can see so far:

i have no spark
no fuel
when the bike gets power i cant hear the fuel pump do anything
FI light is on
the solid light next to it is on

i fixed a broken wire in the starter button and when i push it the headlight turns off

im definately new at this and im doing my researchas i goand im kinda stuck so any suggestions or knowledge is more than welcome and really appreciated.
thanks for your time
-blake

Try this under your seat is a black connector put a jumper wire in it and turn your ignition key to on with kill switch on. The mil light (malfunction indicator light)should blink to give you a code. count blinks and look in sevice manuel. If no code is given computer (ECM) could be bad. With that much crap not working some code should pop up.

The deal with the headlight extinguishing when you thumb the starter switch is normal (supposed to do that to reduct the amp draw on the battery when the starter engages). If you have have the big 20 pin connector (under the front fairing) unplugged, your bike will not start. There is no return signal from the "Tip-sensor" when that connector is unplugged. The tip sensor is the black box mounted on the backside of the headlight assembly right in the middle of the two headlamp fixtures.

Sounds like whoever decided to 're wire' the bike could havemixed a couple of things up and could very well have connected a ground or voltage in the wrong place and burned a diode in the ECU or another module, check your wiring with your manual, you can catch harnesses on ebay pretty reasonable.... when you know the wiring is for a fact correct, then you can surely find out what is wrong with it...

Could it be possible that the kill switch wires are mixed up. If the kill switch is on, onthe bike, itwill get power without the bike turning over. Maybe the kill switch wires are goofed.. It's a thought.
