Default 02 F4i No Start - HELP!!!

Hey everybody, need some help diagnosing my f4i.

It had been stored since november. I was thinking of selling it, and had a potential buyer set to come over, so I took the bike out the nigh before, and it took lots of cranking, but finally started and warmed up, no problem.

The following day, right after work, I started the bike, fired up no problem, as if I`d been riding it everyday. 2 hours later, potential buyer stops by to take a look at it, and do you think I could get that bike to start? NOPE. Lots of cranking. Fired a few time times, but wouldn`t go.

Stupid newb question, is it possible to flood a FI bike? Tried again first thing this morning and same thing, lots of cranking, will not fire though. Fuel pump comes on for 3 seconds or so when I turn the bike on (like normal).

This is a 2002 F4i, 16k, and other than my high performance ebay carbon fiber mirrors, its completely stock......

I realize this must be divine intervention, a sign that I should not sell the bike, which I`m ok with, but If I`m keeping it I would like it to be running! Ran August-end of october with no trouble at all. Changed the oil right before I stored it, and had the tank topped up with premium, with stabilizer.

ps, I know this sucks as a first post, I`ve been a lurker for a while though, if that helps!

how is the battery? since it sat for a few months, used some juice cranking it the first time, then idled it till it warmed up (they dont charge at idle like a car) could have drained enough juice to not fire up the ecu. check your voltage at the battery and maybe charge it.

Would I be able to crank it over (for like a minute straight) yet not have enough juice to fire up the ecu?

I agree, sounds like the battery... does it sound like the cranking is slowing down a bit? first thing I would do is charge it up and see if that helps, if not maybe you should replace those fuel injectors with some good ol carbs

How much horsepower do these add?

As mentioned start first by charging your battery and see where that takes you and go from there. All that extra cranking will drain the battery fairly quickly

This is why you don't try to sale your bike, it's bikes way of saying F*U your keeping me!

Now that you have gotten it all mad you for trying to sale it, you are screwed till you go out there and tell it sorry and ask for forgiveness.

LoL

Last time I tried to sale mine she made me pay big time. I had a guy coming to buy it the next day and I decided to ride it to the store one last time, and sure enough, (BAM) I crashed her, then had to start over rebuilding her.

You say its been stored since november. If you haven't already, get the old gas out of there and put fresh in. From what you describe, that won't fix your problem 100%, but stale gas sure won't help

Haven`t had her on the dyno since the mirror install, so I`ll have to get back to you on that one!

I put fuel stabilizer in before I stored it. Isn`t that the point of stabilizer, to keep you fuel relatively fresh?

Yeah, fuel should be good. Maybe he mirrors add TOO much power? You could take them off and try again...
