I'm 99% sure your issue is related to your antivirus software -- McAfee is a pain in the *** in that it won't differentiate between good active-x and bad active-x[:@] Not sure about Norton ... I no longer use either. I use spyware doctor -- hey, it's highly lauded and catches more stuff than my McAfee ever thought of and it doesn't slow down my system.

Hello,
Newbie here - great site!

I just thought I'd share that for some reason this site wipes out my IE as well. I get a pop-up (the message escapes me at the moment) and then all my open windows close. It mostly happens when trying to search (I wonder if the pop-up saying that there were no matches is a cause? Today was the first time I'd seen the message - before it would just close IE). It also happens after I post or if I open more than about 3 windows on this site (I'm on dial-up, so it's habit for me to open myriad windows at once).

I do run McAfee in case anyone's looking for correlations.

Anyhow, not a real gripe - just sharing.

is your message related to this specific problem, or does it just say that IE has encountered an error and needs to close? then prompts you to send an error report to microsoft?

The Pop-up says that An error has occurred in IE.
IE will need to close.
If it continues............. restart the puter.

Then it closes all my open windows. But it does not prompt a request to send Microsoft an Error Report. Shrug.

that is not the same message they are getting, but it could be caused by a number of things including funky scripts, or it could also be a number of things wrong with your system. you want to check your event log.

Go To:

START -> RUN -> Type "EVENTVWR" ; without quotes, then press enter

This opens the Event Viewer which lists all events in different areas of your computer.

Then Click on the different items on the left, (Application, Security, System), this will bring up all the related events for the given name on the right. You might have an option on the left "Internet Explorer" if so, select that one, if not, look under "Applications".

After you select an option on the left, look through the list of events on the right. You are looking for the ones with a red circle and a white X in it. If there are any with the yellow triangle and exclamation, they possibly could be related, but might not be. If you double click on an event, it will provide you with additional information. Look for anything that says anything about Internet Explorer, also pay attention to errors that occur before or around any IE errors.

Then copy it here so we can have a looksy.
