Default WTF over??? 2006 F4I Exhaust/performance questions

first off.. a slip on.. i've made up my mind .. and picked the D&D slip on... now which to get? nobody lists their products as being compliant with 2006 models.. or at least with the F4I.. but i assume the that the 05 would fit the 06..? maybe i'm wrong.. now o2 sensor ? do i need it? ... can i use a plug? what is a plug? and if i need the o2 sensor does that mean i need the california muffler? meh.. i'm just really confused on this.

then there are the chip, programmers, etc. ... what can anybody suggest? same deal with the year.. do the Dynojet Power Commanders for the 05's work with the 06's??

i appreciate anybody who responds... thanx

well first of all you dont need the O2 sensor if you dont live in california. Also i dont think there is a california muffler but i could be wrong, all you need is the slip-on and the mid pipe which should come with connecting springs. So choose the color of pipe you want and order for your year bike accordingly. And yes the slip-on for a 05 will fit an 06. Also if your going to reprogram the air/fuel then buy an Dynojet power commander. I personally think they are the best you can buy. Im not sure about years for those but if you call any bike place im sure they can get you the answer. its the same bike so i would only assume its the same map. good luck and welcome to the forum.

all the 06 models come with an oxygen sensor....so be sure to request a california version of the slip on you are planning to buy.

why did you choose D&D? do you like loud? nothing wrong with them, they are just louder than the average bear.

You want to buy a pipe that will fit a '05 California model. The California models for the last few years included the o2 sensor, which is now standard on ALL '06 f4i bikes. If you bypass the o2 sensor, you may find your bike running overly rich and have fouled plugs. I put a '05 California model Yosh pipe on my '06. As for the power commander, unless you are also changing out the air filter or doing other enhancements, I don't think it's necessary.

You must buy a Cali midpipe model to fit you O2 sensor and it is very important to run with the O2 sensor or you will have many problems.

Cheers

you can always have a nut or bung welded in the mid pipe...or spend 15 bux to bypass it...

i put the bypass on mine and and it runs good...but i want it to run leaner...so i am thinking about trying to get a bung welded in...

good choice on the D&D though...it makes a great sound and its light too...

its not hard to get it welded plus the nut is like 2 bucks at autozone. if u bypass it ur gonna have gas issues not lasting long but it doesnt do anythign bad. i would say get whatever exhasut u want and weld it thats what i did

Just weld in the bung..Removing the 02 sensor has no effect on performance but really effects gas mileage.
As far as tuning go with a power commander and get a dyno tune. Its worth it even on a stock bike.
