Is it worth it?

Is it worth it?
Hey guys Im considering picking up a 2001 f41 for $4350. It has a 2 brothers exhaust and a few other accessories (tank guard and new handle grips). The bike has about 15,000 miles and is near immaculate (no cracks in the plastic, no dents, just a few minor scratches that are hardly noticeable). It has never been laid down or even dropped. The price also includes delivery, a helmet, and the stock exhaust. I have been looking around at f4i's for a long time and to me the price seems high but I cant find anytime else in Michigan that is in that condition. Ivelooked on ebay, cycletrader, and craigslist. Is this price reasonable or should I keep looking?

that's not a bad deal. make sure it's inspected though and ask for the service records if possible. you should probably look up the VIN and see if it was ever stolen or wrecked too just in case.
I'm really happy with my F4i. while it can't compete with newer bikes performance wise (at least on the track) it is a damn good machine. the thing that i'm most impressed with is the comfort level after a long ride of 4+ hours. no sore back or shoulders just a little stiff in the legs.

RE: Is it worth it?
Thanks for the info guys. I think im going to end up picking up the bike. I do have the VIN so i'll go look that up and see what I can find out. I have seen the title and its clean. On a side note....I have heard several people complain that the F4i's seats are rather uncomfortable but its uplifting to hear otherwise for a change.
Also If I do go through with this do you recommend me getting the bike serviced or would I be better off picking up a service manual and doing it myself? I figure that I have a few months left before I take it out for the first time and I want to make sure that its safe to ride before I do so.
Thanks!!!

I don't find the seat uncomfortable at all. i'm an average rider 5'11" and 160lbs. If you have experience servicing your bike you could do it yourself. Or, if you have the patience to sit on a forum and a decent tool set you could just learn how. It's pretty rewarding actually. Every bike is different and it gives you more respect for them in the long run and definitely makes you more attached to your bike. I've worked on both my bikes and only took them in for things like new fork seals after i took the forks off the bike myself. I'd recommend for a bike with that many miles to inspect the chain/sprockets, brake pads, cam chain tensioner (will probably sound like a can of BBs at ~4800RPMs with that mileage- common problem), and triple tree/wheel bearings. It couldn't hurt to replace the fluids either. Test the anti-freeze for pH. If it's acidic it's producing a charge and it needs to be replaced or it will start to corrode things. You'll get a good idea of how the bike was treated and ridden if you can figure out what to look for. If you are uncertain about how to do these things just take it to a dealer you can trust and tell them you want to have them make sure everything is sound because you just bought it.

i think it sounds good. i just got mine for 3900. its got a two bros, -1/+2 vortex sprockets, and a few other nice touches. it has 21,000 so 4300 for the one your lookin at sounds pretty good. maybe offer like 4000 and see if you can get him to come down to 4100 or so, unless youve already negotiated w. him. but yea overall it sounds like a good deal.
