I purchased a Datatool DiGi Gear Indicator for my 2004 CBR600F4i and the installation requires me to splice in 6 wires from the indicator into the wires going into the Tach and Speedo. This is pretty easy however my bike is not listed in the instructions where it lists the wire colors.

I was just wondering if anyone could look up or tell me what color wire is what. I'm going to be cutting the wires that lead into the instument panel and I need to know which wire is what.

Here are the 6 wires that I need to identify on my motorcycle:

Ground (DiGi cable color is Black)
Ignition switched 12 volt positive supply (DiGi cable color is Red)
Tachometer pulse (rpm) (DiGi cable color is Yellow)
Speedometer pulse (mph/kph) (DiGi cable color is Green)
Neutral Light (DiGi cable color is Brown)
Learn/setup (DiGi cable color is Orange)

This is from my Honda service manual's wire diagram/schematic. I'll list all so you know what's what. These are all coming out of the back of the gauge cluster:

G/Bu - Temp (-)
P/G - Speed
Bl/Br - Ignition (+)
Br/W - Illumination (+)
R/G - Batt (+)
W/Bu - FI Indicator (-)
Y/G - Tach
Bu/R - Oil (-)
Lb - Turn R (+)
Bu - Hi Beam (+)
Lg/R - Neutral (-)
O - Turn L (+)
G - (-)
G/Bl - Sensor (-)
Br/Bl - Reserve Sensor
G/W - Side Stand

G - (-)
G/Bl - Sensor (-)

one has no description and the other is just "sensor" so I dont know what it's referring to.

G - (-) means: Green (wire color) negative side (I'm assuming the entire instrument cluster ground)
G/Bl - sensor (-) would be: Green/Blue (wire color) - neg side (Tip sensor would be my guess)

I just copied it directly as written in the manual, direct from Honda's service manual.

 

My best guess to wire this up would be the following:


Gear indicator's Black wire to gauge cluster's Green
Gear indicator's Red wire to gauge cluster's Blue/Brown
Gear indicator's Yellow wire to gauge cluster's Yellow/Green
Gear indicator's Green wire to gauge cluster's Pink/Green
Gear indicator's Brown wire to gauge cluster's Light Green/Red

I'm not sure where the gear indicator's Orange wire goes to for the learn/set up. Maybe FI since that comes from the ECU, but don't know. You should probably call the manufacturer to be sure.
Definately do the write up when you get it finished because I've been thinking about getting one of these. I keep searching for 7th gear all the damn time.

but what other brand digital gear indicators are out there that i can purchase for the cbr f4i?
and as far as the wire colors , is that also for the 01's?

 

There's also an Acumen brand indicator, looks the same as the other one.
