Question Winter riding jacket?

Hey gang,

I ride year round - past couple years i've just worn underarmor and hoodies under my summer jacket, but this year I think I might invest in a jacket more suitable for winter.

Full leather I suppose.

Anyways - any suggestions or feedback on what type of jacket?

Well since I started working for the cable company, I've invested in full length thermal underwear. A good pair of thermals, long sleeved shirt and a canvas jacket has gotten me thru 25 degree weather on the telephone pole during winds. But admittedly, so long as my hands are warm I'm usually fine.

I'd think any non-perforated leather jacket with the vents closed would suffice so long as you have a 2 layers below it. Sorry, but I'm not riding when there's the slightest threat of frost. Let alone ice

An addendum:
Even tho it doesn't really bug me, I can tell you my legs got colder than my upper body. Simply because even with thermals on, there were only 2 layers on my legs (thermals + pants) versus the 3 on my upper torso (thermals + shirt + jacket)

For the budget-minded, you could always hit CL & get a deal on a used one. Nothin' wrong w/a used one either. Sometimes for me, the fewer the choices, the better! ;-)

There's some riders around here that get a new leather jacket every season, like its back-to-school wear. ;-)

I normally just ride with layers. That's normally the way to go. Depending on your budget, check out AlpineStars's 365 jacket. It's only like 1200 dollars.

In that case i'll take two.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Guess i'll stick with my layering in the meantime, I might try to keep an eye out for a non - perf leather jacket as well.

My underarmor / thermals and a hoodie with a balcava did pretty well last year - i'll second you Kuro that my legs do get colder.

Well I rock leather year round lol, perforated in the summer n non-perforated in the winter. I wear UA Cold Gear under my leathers n thats worked thus far, if it were colder I'd add a fleece.
