hey guys i just bought a HID kit from DDM and in the process of putting it in, but me and my friend are trying to figure out where to mount the ballist so it cant be seen and look clean. Its a 2002 f4i. So some ideas would be great thanks.

well i found where to mount it but we are still running into problems. the spacer that was sent to us from ddm isnt fitting right. is there anyone else having that problem?

 

Simply take of the cowl's or whatever you would call them that are on each side of the inner fairings and hide them behind it. Much better then just painting them black and call it good

 

i mean the spacer for the light isnt fitting to mount the light in place.

 

ok i think i know what you are talking about but not 100% so i am answering with what i think the question is and ignore it if im not right... there is an added spacer on the h7 kit that is not needed when installing it on out bikes if you download and look at step 9 and 10 HERE all you do is cut it off...if i remember correctly you may have to rotate the bulb just right before it will insert completely into the housing but not sure i did the car the same day so might be crossed on that..good luck

 

thanks guys. but me and my friend ended up figuring it all out and the bike looks amazing with the headlights. But for anyone that runs into the same problem what you have to to is trim the notches on the spacer down a little bit then they will fit in perfectely into the slot in the headlight unit.

 

I just totally cut the black things off of mine, and have had zero problems. The only issue, that I don't even think is an issue really, but when I hit a bump, the lights seem to "bounce" however this "bounce" isn't more than an inch of two, and that's on the ground. I figured it's just the vibrations from the bump, and the bike itself.

But there were about 7 threads made in quick succession about this topic. The ballast should go 'in between' the housings. That is the best spot for them to be "out of the way". A couple zip ties later, and wah lah! You have a clean, and great looking set up!

 

Mine didn't fit perfectly. Just use a Dremel to trim around it to round it out some. Better than removing it and getting the bounce like Zero mentioned (I've had two kits, the first one did the bounce - made sure to fix that the second time).
