Once it's obvious that the rear tire is squaring off, you need tocheck it after every ride. Because before you know it, thecords will be exposed.

there are wear indicator bars that run perpendicular to the tread pattern. once you're there, get ready for new rubbers. you won't be able to see them for the center portion of the tire...but just when you see no more treads, know that it'll be time soon.

I rode mine til the cords were showing. But I could tell when I would rip on the throttle, my back end would slip with cords showing.

I ride untill the cord shows but thats just me, you can look at the tread where it meets the wear bars and if its even its due or you can but a penny in the tread with lincons head down and if you can see all of lincons head its time for a new tire. Just my 2 cents worth

is it dangerous to have your tire square off. will it effect my handling around corners and possibly loose it

My experience says that it is cheaper to buy a new tire than try to replace a life. Go get the tire. When in doubt pull out the credit card.

How about age wise? Say you have alot of tread but the tire is say 3-4 years old? Is it still ok?
