Default What is the Perfect Idle?

Hey guys,

Today I was fiddling with my idle and I accidentally set it a little too high (was 1.5 in the parking lot but when I got going it ended up around 2). I've heard that the idle should be somewhere around 1.25 but today when it was set to 2, my shifting was SO smooth. There was no little jolt or anything when shifting gears. So what should I set it at? Thanks

Service manual says 1200-1400 rpm.

And you should let the bike warm up to operating temp (160F+) before messing with the idle screw.

Mine is set at 1100-1200 rpms. I would say that's the perfect spot. Seems to run great that way

at 1305.8893882772666355536637711111111199276468999 the bike has like 800,000 hp
but only like 3 people have ever been able to set their idle there successfully.

j/k but for real, mine runs great at a lil under 1500 any lower seems to run like crap

lol.......1300 is my sweet spot...I peg it nice and steady Unless she hasent been run in a week or two...then the battery can barley keep her at 1000 upon cold start...A little throttle helps...then she'll sit at 1300

I think the manual says 1250 +/- 50

Thats about where mine is. However, sometimes it acts funny and changes itself.

Speaking of idle screws, mine is not very smooth and sometimes hard to turn. Is this the case for most of you?
