RE: what oil to use
i'm guessing by regular you mean car oil? if so the NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
the Pro Honda Oils (red cap) stuff is good, thats what I use in my streetbike. I use Repsol 4t 10w50 in my track bike.
and with filters, the stock one is considered one of the best available. If you want aftermarket the only one I can suggest is K&N.
I think the fram one has a reputation of breaking down and getting bits of cardboard in the oil

DON'T USE AUTOMOTIVE OIL IN A BIKE!!!!!!!!!
automotive oil has friction modifiers in them to prevent friction. if you use them in a bike they will destroy a clutch since a clutch works off of friction and the same oil in the engine lubes the tranny also.....
go with Honda Pro oils. that is what i run in my '05 and use the stock filters....don't waste your money on a K&N filter...they are not any different from a stock filter.

RE: what oil to use
I am into R4 superbike oil. I have however heard good things on the repsol. I would at bear min use a oil that is designed for a bike not a car. I guess enough has been said about the clutch and the tranny using the same oil as your engine. Not to mention that a car doesnt turn 10,000+ RPM.

RE: what oil to use
I'm just nearing my first oil change at 500-600 miles. Where is the best place to buy Honda oil online? Same with filters? Is there a bike shop that does good internet sales of oil & filters? That's what I'm looking for since the nearest dealer is over 30 minutes away each way.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

RE: what oil to use
check it...do some research on it and not base this off of the fact that bikes spin way more RPMs than cars.
i posted here before, of blackstone lab results of a zx10r using dino oil. he changed it out at 4K, sent it to blackstone for testing. oil did show signs of break down. the recommendation was to change out every 2800 or so.
bike specific oils may just last longer than conventional car oils.

I agree with Tahoe SC. You can use car oil in bikes, as long it is not labeled "Energy Conserving". You guys need to inform yourselfs. I suggest reading the article on Sports Rider website regarding oils.
